Data Centre Chief Engineer, Data Centre Engineering Operations
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Centre Chief Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our data centre engineering operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre is operating at peak efficiency.
Responsibilities- Cover gaps in a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster to ensure seamless operation of critical systems.
- Manage on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to maintain high standards of service delivery.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
- Develop and implement Change Management requests and Incident Management tickets for events managed by the DCEO team.
- Collaborate with DC managers (IT) and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation relevant to business and facility operations.
- Review management of routine maintenance and emergency services on various critical systems.
- Support design, implementation, commissioning, and build-out of new facilities.
- Drive and implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
- Oversee facility assets and provide infrastructure and inventory asset management.
- Participate in regular Construction and Operational Meetings as required.
- Familiarize yourself with Work Order compliance to achieve contractual SLA's.
- Interface with Infra Ops management for day-to-day operational requirements.
- Supervise a team of Engineering Operation technicians on a daily basis.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience in data centre operations, preferably in a leadership or senior technical role.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interface effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with Change Management and Incident Management processes.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
