Job Title: Land Acquisition Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to acquire suitable sites for solar PV and/or BESS development. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for various tasks including assessment of suitable sites, building relationships with landowners, undertaking site visits, interfacing with third parties, managing consultants, and coordinating feasibility assessments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Site acquisition and assessment for solar PV and/or BESS development.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with landowners.
  • Undertaking site visits to assess suitability.
  • Interface with local planning authorities and network service providers.
  • Management of specialist consultants and agents when required.
  • Coordination with other team members during the feasibility assessment process.
  • Engagement and negotiation with landowners for exclusivity agreements, options to lease, and options to purchase.
  • Site visits to meet landowners and representatives as part of the land acquisition process.
  • Project cash flow management and budget control for planning activities.
Planning & Approvals:
  • Secure Development Approvals (DAs) for projects in any state or territory, including consultant onboarding, study coordination, stakeholder meetings, and liaison with internal and external teams.
  • Staying up-to-date with legislative changes across governments relating to Planning and Renewable Energy Developments.
  • Managing project cash flow and budget control for planning activities.
  • Site visits to meet stakeholders, Councils, and Government delegates through the Planning process.
  • Achieving high standards of Project Management, including tracking and reporting processes, financial oversight, timing, and scheduling.
Requirements and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, or related field.
  • Tertiary education in Environmental Engineering, Town Planning, Sustainability, or related disciplines is required.
  • 2+ years of post-graduate experience in a similar role or as a planning consultant.
  • Strategic planning and prioritization abilities with proficiency in adhering to tight deadlines and overseeing budgets effectively.
  • Proficient communication skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in dealing with Commonwealth, State, and Local legislations/policies.
  • Leadership in decision-making and problem-solving, experience in overseeing specialists, orchestrating studies, and demonstrating initiative.
