About Us
">SBS is one of the world's most innovative media organisations, producing trusted content that exists for all Australians to inspire and celebrate diversity.
Our purpose reflects and explores the evolving diversity of Australia, investing in initiatives to deepen connections with communities and give a voice to those often unheard.
We are a distinctive network, showcasing multicultural and multilingual stories otherwise untold in Australian media.
The Department - TV & Online Content
Makes SBS Australia's most distinctive media organisation, delivering a clear promise to audiences and inspiring them to seek out different perspectives. As our streaming services grow, we need program metadata and digital live stream quality assurance in this fast-paced area.
In this context, the Digital Metadata Specialist plays a key role in ensuring content travels to our platforms with correct metadata and componentry information.
You will work cross-functionally with editorial, operations and technology teams to ensure all components for scheduled content have been delivered ahead of 'go live'. This role is highly collaborative, proactive and largely self-directed.
The Role
- Liaise with TV & Online Content teams to understand strategies, planning and schedules to ensure digital online requirements for internally produced content, key events, live streaming and shortform content are met.
- Lead the program delivery quality assurance of content that flows to SBS OnDemand and SBS digital platforms. Conduct metadata and componentry checks of all internal production titles and live content, ensuring the teams responsible for each core component of the workflow have correctly captured requirements and executed tasks.
- Using MPX and IBMS, generate program placeholders for special online events and oversee the end-to-end workflow by collaborating effectively with production teams.
- Initiate workflows to update programs in the MAM system when required, and ensure data is accurate before actioning.
- As a subject matter expert in broadcast digital metadata, work closely with the Manager, Content Discovery on the governance and development of best practice relating to SBS On Demand's integration with Gracenote.
- Perform a governance role with respect to consistent naming conventions across program deals in IBMS, to ensure all SBS teams are set up for success with related systems.
- Workflow Enhancements: Continuously seek to improve operations, contributing to any UAT requirements that ensure seamless programming, on-time without error.
- Other Duties: Assist Content Operations team on projects and content deliverables as required.
This role requires incumbents to be fully vaccinated with an approved Covid-19 vaccination in line with the ATAGI guidelines.
About You
- Experienced in an operations role within a broadcast environment, including solid experience with business management systems like IBMS.
- A confident individual that can communicate complex ideas in a meaningful way to stakeholders.
- A strong eye for detail is essential.
- Solid written & verbal communication skills.
If you meet most but not all the criteria, send through your details and we can discuss how to bridge gaps.
Salary: Estimated $70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
