Job Overview:

The role of Horticultural Assistant is a critical position within our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and condition of plants are maintained through vigilant monitoring and data collection.

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager, who oversees the site's technical operations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately collect and document data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection: Gather timely data on plant growth and health to enable accurate reporting on harvest yield and timing.
  • Reporting: Submit documented observations and scouting reports utilizing accurate and up-to-date data.
  • Plant Health Checks: Conduct visual health checks on all plants and report on health, nutrient, pest & disease and growing practices.
  • Maintenance: Monitor plants in accordance with set practices to ensure they are free of economically important pathogens and are true to type.
  • Improvement Identification: Identify and communicate improvements of identified gaps in Clean Stock.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Horticulture or similar is preferred.
  • Previous experience working on a farm or similar role is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and accurate data collection.
  • Intermediate Excel and computer skills are essential.
  • Unrestricted working rights.
