About the Role

This exciting opportunity is open to individuals who wish to develop their skills and experience in horticulture. As a Horticulture Trainee, you will be responsible for maintaining school grounds, caring for plants, and operating various garden tools and machinery.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain a Certificate III in Horticulture and develop their knowledge and skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Garden and Grounds Maintenance: Maintain the school grounds, including gardens and turfed areas.
  • Mulch, Prune and Water Plants: Care for plants, including mulching, pruning, and watering.
  • Use of Garden Tools and Machinery: Operate various garden tools and machinery to maintain the school grounds.
  • Brush Cutting and Mowing: Maintain grassed areas by brush cutting and mowing.
  • Implement Soil Improvements: Improve soil quality and fertility for garden and turf areas.
  • Irrigation and Drainage Systems: Maintain irrigation and drainage systems to ensure optimal plant growth.
  • Pest and Weed Control: Identify and control pests and weeds that affect plant health.
Requirements
  • White Card: Hold a white card (or be willing to obtain) to work safely on construction sites.
  • Blue Card: Hold a blue card (or be willing to obtain) to work with children.
  • Maintenance Experience: Previous experience in maintenance, landscaping, or building is highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Work Schedule: Work Monday to Friday, 7am-4pm.
  • Location: Live on the North end of the Sunshine Coast.
  • Driver's Licence: Hold a valid driver's licence.
  • References: Provide two work-related references.
