Housing Support Care Aide

This is a dynamic role where the Housing Support Care Aide participates in identifying clients' problems, needs and risks.

They provide support with basic life skills building in problem areas, engage and provide services to help residents succeed in their goals toward independent living.

The Housing Support Care Aide advocates for residents, daily living skills, responds to medical emergencies including overdoses, and maintains a safe and welcoming environment for a marginalized population.

The successful candidate will be working directly with our Site Supervisor and Housing Support Worker Team to ensure that each resident receives the highest level of care and support. This includes developing and implementing short-term intervention plans within program guidelines, evaluating the effectiveness of these plans and reporting on client progress to the Supervisor.

  • Contributes to the development and modification of the resident support/care plan.
  • Provides input to the multidisciplinary Island Health teams and detox and treatment program plan.
  • Develops and implements short-term, issue specific intervention plans within program guidelines.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the intervention plan.
  • Reports on clients' progress and discusses related concerns with the Supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. They must also have a high level of physical fitness and be able to perform the duties of the position, including being on their feet for up to 6 hours per shift.
