Evolution Mining offers a geotechnical internship program for students and recent graduates.
Job DescriptionThis 12-week residential program provides hands-on experience in geotechnical risk management and slope stability at the Northparkes site. You will assist with geotechnical data collection, participate in site inspections, and contribute to back-analyzing rockfalls and slope failures using site data.
You will also prepare reports and presentations on geotechnical observations and findings, and engage in safety training, toolbox talks, and ground awareness sessions with site teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, or similar degree.
- Experience with relevant software and systems through studies or placements (preferred).
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills across verbal, written, numerical, and graphical formats.
- 12-week residential program at Northparkes, with subsidized housing in a mixed house and a private room.
- Flights provided at the beginning and end of the program, and for the Christmas break.
- Fuel costs reimbursed if traveling by personal car.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
- Fast-tracked entry into the graduate program for successful participants.
The internship provides opportunities for professional growth and development, including mentorship from experienced technical leaders, participation in operational and personal development training, and supervision and guidance from senior geotechnical professionals.
