Survey Manager Job Description

The Survey Manager is a critical role within our organization, responsible for overseeing and coordinating all survey-related activities in Queensland. This position requires a strong leader who can manage a team of surveyors, ensure timely and accurate project completion, and maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily survey team activities, providing guidance and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring deadlines are met and communicating with clients to understand their requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to oversee survey work, ensure accuracy, and troubleshoot any on-site issues.
  • Ensure all survey operations adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting safety briefings and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor project budgets, controlling costs, and reporting on financial performance.
  • Develop plans for upcoming projects, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates and gather feedback on survey operations.
Requirements:
  • Effectively lead and motivate a team of surveyors, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Streamline survey processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of surveying principles, technology, and best practices relevant to the region.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, through execution and delivery.
  • Ensure all survey operations adhere to Queensland's regulatory standards and industry guidelines.
  • Quickly identify and resolve issues that arise during survey operations, minimizing impact on project timelines.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Stay agile and adaptable in a fast-paced environment, responding to changes and challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance overall survey operations.
  • Well-developed business acumen and financial management skills. Manage budgets effectively, ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints, setting and maintaining yearly budgets for the department.
  • Prioritize safety in all operations, ensuring a safe working environment for the team and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in using a wide range of survey equipment and software.
  • Tertiary qualifications are an advantage.
  • Experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Current Driver's License.
