About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Youth Outreach Worker to join our team at Windana's Youth Hub in Moorabbin. As a key member of our team, you will provide outreach support and case management services to young people experiencing issues with alcohol or other drugs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake assessments and provide case management, crisis intervention, outreach, advocacy, and supported referral to young people presenting with problematic substance abuse issues.
  • Work within a harm minimization framework to reduce the risks associated with alcohol and other drugs to young people.
  • Provide assessment, support, and case management on an outreach basis to young people in their own environment.
  • Maximize flexibility in treatment and support services to minimize disruption to young people and their families.
  • Offer an outreach service to clients where access to the centre is difficult or the type of service is best delivered off-site.
  • Provide secondary consultation and training and education/information sessions in relation to alcohol and other drug issues.
Requirements
  • Ideal 1-2 years' experience in a youth or outreach capacity.
  • Experience case managing young people and understanding problematic substance abuse issues, including Dual Diagnosis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of alcohol and other drug service provision to young people.
  • Knowledge of the psychosocial issues affecting young people with problematic substance abuse.
  • An interpersonal style that fosters the wellbeing of young people accessing Windana services.
  • Ability to work independently and harmoniously within a team to achieve team goals.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, stakeholders, and other service providers.
  • Capacity to work within an outreach model of service delivery.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance and application of inclusive practice when working with people from diverse communities.
  • AOD Certificate IV or willingness to complete studies within the first 6 months of employment.
  • An undergraduate degree in youth work, social work, or counselling would be highly regarded.
