About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Energy Advisor to join our team at Baringa Partners. As a key member of our Energy and Resources practice, you will play a critical role in shaping the energy transition in Australia and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead teams of consultants to deliver high-impact results in the energy sector, focusing on energy transition and decarbonisation strategies.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders in the energy industry, including policymakers, regulators, investors, developers, and industry players, to provide expert advice and guidance.
  • Develop and implement decarbonisation strategies for large corporate consumers, including renewable energy contracting, carbon offsetting, and new technology appraisal.
  • Work with Distribution Network Operators to define strategic and operational model changes required with the increasing penetration of distributed renewable energy.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver actionable advice and support implementation of real change in the energy sector.
Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in the energy market, carbon markets, or green fuels industry, ideally gained within Australia.
  • Commercial advisory experience gained either in industry or as a consultant to the energy industry.
  • Strong passion for solving critical and tricky problems in the energy sector, with the ability to lead and coach small teams.
  • Confidence in engaging directly with leadership teams within wholesale markets, risk, strategy, and trading functions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for being part of a rapidly growing environment.
