About this opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled WHSE Manager to join our team in the WA region. As a key member of our national WHSE team, you will provide oversight and drive consistent implementation of our Health, Safety and Environmental systems to ensure we meet our legal and ethical obligations.
As a WHSE Manager, you will ensure systems and processes are in place that focus on risk management and risk mitigation. You will be responsible for providing expert advice, support and driving implementation of our Group WHSE System, including communicating with site management and conducting inspections and audits.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing oversight of health, safety and environmental incidents and supporting sites with incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action close out
- Monitoring and driving activities with external regulatory bodies and providing recommendations for continuous improvement
- Planning and implementing environmental, health and safety programs
- Identifying common environment, health and safety hazards and establishing guidelines for their control
- Promoting and championing a zero-harm culture and providing expert advice and support to site management teams
- Incident management and establishing risk management and risk mitigation programs
- Monitoring, interpreting and championing changes to the regulatory environment
- Supporting the development and coordination of strategies and training and educating leaders on our safety management systems
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience as a Safety and Environmental Manager
- Qualifications in WHSE field (Cert IV, Diploma in Environmental/Risk field or similar tertiary qualification)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of WHS and Environmental legislation, codes of practice, standards and associated obligations
- Strong skills in hazard identification, risk management and incident investigation
- Previous experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and auditing Safety or Environmental Management Systems
- Excellent communication capability with all stakeholders around risk management
- Leadership and mentoring experience to continually improve our Quality culture
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently, remotely and manage competing priorities
- Data analysis and solid report writing capability
- Passion for driving results, change and continuous improvement
