Database Reliability Engineer

The Database Reliability Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and performance of our data systems. This individual will work closely with our engineering team to develop and implement scalable solutions, automate large-scale cloud-based critical systems, and troubleshoot complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of database components, including configuration management, scripting in Python and Bash, and experience with large-scale datastores using technologies like Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, and MySQL.
  • Operate and automate properly configured clusters, manage container images, and develop infrastructure services to support our engineering team's pursuit of a full DevOps model.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Customer Support to troubleshoot time-sensitive production issues, ensuring petabytes of critical business data remain safe, secure, and available.

Requirements:

  • Configuration management (Chef)
  • Scripting in Python and Bash
  • Experience with large-scale datastores using technologies like Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, and MySQL
  • Experience with large-scale, business-critical Linux environments
  • Proven ability to work effectively with both local and remote teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
