Groom Artist - Join us to create incredible characters and creatures

Our Groom Artist team is a talented group of artists who specialize in creating realistic hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures. We work closely with our Digital Model Shop and Creature Teams to ensure that every detail is meticulously crafted to bring these characters to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation of fur/feather/hair/environment grooms for characters, creatures, and environments using a mix of off-the-shelf and proprietary tools.
  • Collaboration with Creature TDs to determine requirements and solutions for dynamics and layouts.
  • Painting color and specular maps for hair, fur, and feathers.
  • Close collaboration with additional departments in the Creature workflow, including Modeling, Animation, and Lighting.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience within a high-end VFX facility.
  • Demo reel and portfolio illustrating knowledge and experience in painting, illustration, or design.
  • Familiarity with film production and computer graphics.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proven grooming skills within a high-end VFX production environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
