Automotive Professional

We seek a skilled Diesel Mechanic to undertake maintenance, testing and repair of diesel motors and mechanical parts of trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining, testing and repairing diesel motors and mechanical parts of heavy vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes
  • Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
  • Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
  • Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, referring to service manuals as needed
  • Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, for smoother running of vehicles and compliance with pollution regulations
  • Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired
  • Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
  • Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers
  • Inspecting vehicles and issuing roadworthiness certificates or detailing work required to achieve roadworthiness
  • Keeping accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used in the repair process

Key Qualifications:

  • AQF Certificate III including at least 2 years of on-the-job training -OR Certificate IV in relevant field, or higher equivalent
  • Proven experience as a motor mechanic or automotive technician – preferably with diesel engine and heavy vehicles
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems and internal combustion engines
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good physical condition and manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members
