Child Health Psychologist Role

The primary objective of a Child Health Psychologist is to provide high-quality psychological assessments, interventions, and consultations for children aged 0-12 in order to support their mental health and development. This role focuses on preparing preschool-aged children for their transition to school by offering screening, intake, assessment, and therapy in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver evidence-based psychological assessments, interventions, and consultation services to meet the needs of consumers within Primary and Community Health settings.
  • Support the implementation of early intervention programs, including the Brighter Beginnings preschool health and development screening, and provide direct care pathways for children in South Western Sydney Local Health District.
  • Participate in evaluating clinical outcomes of services and assist in developing education and training programs to enhance the skills of psychologists and other disciplines working within the district.
  • Supervise psychologists and other professionals working within the district according to organisational needs.
