Ophthalmology and Optometry Expert


Job Purpose

  • The Field Medical Affairs Manager serves as a strategic link between medical experts and key opinion leaders in the field of ophthalmology and optometry.
  • The MAM supports the development and appropriate use/adoption of products and therapies through evidence generation and scientific exchange, gathering actionable insights to inform company understanding.

Responsibilities:

  • Support investigator-initiated trials, develop peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs, and provide medical support for eye care professionals.
  • Deliver unbiased scientific information presentations, respond to queries and unsolicited requests for medical information, and escalate as necessary.
  • Act as an interface between medical experts/HCP and Alcon to educate, diagnose, resolve, and where applicable, escalate device-related issues.
  • Maintain relationships with decision-makers to expand evidence generation and gain advocacy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial, QA, research and development, regulatory affairs, and market access.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in ophthalmology or optometry, OD/MD/DO/MBBS/PhD/PharmD preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in ophthalmology or optometry, with at least 2 years in the industry or clinical practice.
  • Experience in HCP-facing roles, working knowledge of eye diseases, surgical procedures, and optometry.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design, product development, regulatory requirements, payer landscape, and life cycle management.
