Strategic Planning Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Planner to join our team and play a pivotal role in implementing a new project within the Country Fire Authority.
This exciting opportunity offers an excellent chance to use your planning expertise and work alongside a small team of land use planning and bushfire specialists.
The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing review and implementation of a new bushfire risk information tool that is currently under development.
Whilst some familiarity with bushfire policy and related planning controls is preferred, we encourage anyone with significant planning and/or policy experience, superior writing skills and a willingness to work as part of the team to apply for the role.
About You- Tertiary qualified in urban or regional land use planning (or similar) and experience in strategic planning (preferred) or statutory planning.
- Strong understanding of the Victorian planning system and provisions, settlement and growth planning, planning scheme amendment process, role of referral authorities and planning for natural hazards, including bushfire.
- Experience in strategic and statutory planning including the assessment of permit applications, settlement growth planning, planning scheme amendments and policy development.
- An understanding of how to influence and implement planning policy objectives to address planning and building issues associated with natural hazards and emergency management.
- Proven knowledge and/or experience of planning for bushfire is preferred.
- Ability to work as part of a small team and helps others develop land use planning skills.
- High level written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to prepare reports, submissions and planning policy.
- High level negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes and think strategically to develop creative solutions to meet desired outcomes.
The salary for this role is estimated to be between $85,000 to $110,000 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation.
