The role of APS6 Cyber Security Specialist is a crucial part of our team's operations, requiring strong leadership skills to manage and coordinate workflows effectively.

This position involves providing expert advice on complex issues related to IT security, strategic planning, program management, project management, and policy development.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting risk assessments for external stakeholders and offering guidance to mitigate potential threats.
  • Evaluating the Agency's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for IT security, including staying up-to-date with changes to the Information Security Manual and Protective Security Policy Framework.
  • Developing policies and procedures through collaboration and effective communication.
  • Providing insights on cyber trends, threats, applicable security controls, and industry standards.
  • Liaising with peers to conduct thorough risk assessments and oversee reviews.

Necessary Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Australian Government governance concepts, particularly in ICT, policy/standards development, framework documentation, and reporting to senior executives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to mentor and provide expertise within a team environment, engaging confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
