Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanic to join our team at Busways Group. As a Senior Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing repairs on buses and other maintenance activities as required. You will also oversee major repair programs, including testing, fault finding, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing repairs on buses and other maintenance activities as required
  • Overseeing major repair programs, including testing, fault finding, and quality assurance
  • Conducting functional checks to ensure components are operational and vehicles are fit for service
  • Providing on-the-job instruction, training, and coaching to staff for maintenance work, inventory requirements, and record documentation
  • Developing the skills of the workshop team to maximise results
  • Leading by example, representing the organisation in an honest, ethical, and professional manner according to the Busways Code of Conduct
  • Maintaining all tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with Busways' standards
  • Liaising with the Regional Assets Support Manager regarding buses off the road
  • Assisting the Regional Assets Support Manager as needed, including managing leave requests and workshop staff
  • Ensuring staff have adequate training to perform necessary tasks
  • Raising purchase orders and processing invoices for payment
  • Reporting and repairing all accident damage as required
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks and other duties as directed
Requirements
  • Relevant trade qualifications (MVTC) essential
  • Experience in the service and maintenance of vehicles (training provided to develop these skills)
  • Adherence to safety standards and company policies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a team environment on daily maintenance and repair schedules
  • Proactive approach with a drive for continuous improvement
  • Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or working rights in Australia
