Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner

The Mater Hospital Brisbane Emergency Department offers a comprehensive emergency service for adult patients, with approximately 50,000 patients seen annually. The department provides care to patients over 16 years old, with acute illnesses and injuries including medical, surgical, oncology, orthopedic, and gynecological emergencies.
Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of emergency doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals.
About the RoleThis role involves providing patient-centered care using best practice within the standard of an RN. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and implementing nursing interventions and plans of care.
- Communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, relatives, and visitors while displaying high-level professional nursing care.
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the ED journey with a focus on continuum of care.
- Responding to sudden alterations in patient health status using comprehensive nursing assessment and intervention skills.
- Developing and maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth.
- Demonstrating evidence of increasing autonomy and professional judgment in the clinical environment as the employee progresses from a beginning practitioner to an experienced clinician.
To succeed in this position, you will need to demonstrate:
- Contemporary clinical knowledge of Emergency nursing.
- The ability to provide patient-centered care using evidence-based practice within the standard of practice of a Registered Nurse.
- The ability to communicate effectively and engage with the multidisciplinary team, patients, relatives, and visitors.
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships, effectively communicate, and support a positive environment within the multidisciplinary team.
- Active contribution to the learning and development of yourself and others.
- The ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
This role requires AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
