Fountain Gate Secondary College is a supportive and forward-thinking school community dedicated to helping students succeed.

As a Careers Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting students from Years 7-12 to explore future opportunities, make informed choices, and successfully transition from school into further education, training, or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, deliver and administer career support services across the school.
  • Advise the whole school community on best practices in Careers Education.
  • Provide professional counselling services to students and record interviews in an electronic database.
  • Conduct Career Action Plan interviews with students, guiding them to improve their understanding of pathway options, VTAC prerequisites, and subject selection.
  • Run careers-based sessions via assemblies and in classes.
  • Collaborate with Year level teams to improve work-readiness of students.
  • Manage meetings with Year level Leaders and develop links with agencies to organise mock interviews.
  • Assist students to apply for courses, training and employment opportunities.
  • Deliver VTAC & Pathway materials and conduct interviews with each Year 12 VCE student seeking tertiary further studies or employment.
  • Target students for industry-based excursions, programs and guest speakers.

The successful candidate will be committed to lifelong learning, undertake appropriate professional development and attend outside agency meetings as required. They will also participate in Parent/Teacher interviews, information and course advice evenings for subject selection, and provide feedback and knowledge to Assistant Principals, leaders and teachers to ensure collaborative approaches to learning.
