Senior Software Engineer Job Description

We're seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Hobart, Australia.

You'll collaborate with our product team and contribute to the development of next-generation Procreate products and features using your expertise in Swift and technical architecture. Your impact will be felt across the creative industry.

The Role

This role is part of our Product team and reports directly to Michael Shaw, our CTO. You'll work closely with engineers, designers, quality assurance specialists, and executive members.

Key Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with designers to transform prototypes into deliverable products.

Develop and maintain major features used by millions of artists.

Provide technical leadership through mentoring, library development, and code review.

Solve complex and unique technical challenges.

Required Skills

Deep understanding of Swift and its type system (experience with Rust is also beneficial).

Understanding of multi-threaded concurrency and parallelism approaches.

Experience making technical decisions for a team and seeing them through.

Ability to debug, profile, and resolve performance issues.

Strong track record of developing libraries used by teams.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bonus Skills

Experience with diverse languages that have alternate paradigms to Swift, such as C, Haskell, and Rust.

Familiarity with UIKit.

Competence in linear algebra, including comfort with matrices and vectors.

Well-versed in testing approaches, such as property testing.
