Job Title: Climate Modeller - Ice Sheet Dynamics

We are seeking a highly skilled climate modeller to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge ice sheet models. As a climate modeller, you will work closely with our research partners to dynamically couple the ice sheet model with the ocean and sea-ice model.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in numerical modelling and programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, and Fortran. Experience with high-performance computing environments and APIs for model pre- and post-processing is also desirable.

In this role, you will be responsible for refining and optimising the coupled model for improved computational performance and numerical reliability. You will also collaborate with our team to implement new basal melt parameterisations, iceberg calving mechanisms, and other key components of the model.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a PhD (or near completion) in glaciology, oceanography, computational modelling, or a related field. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write technical documentation and publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed scientific journals, are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dynamically couple the ice sheet model with the ocean and sea-ice model
  • Refine and optimise the coupled model for improved computational performance and numerical reliability
  • Implement new basal melt parameterisations, iceberg calving mechanisms, and other key components of the model
  • Collaborate with our team to develop and maintain high-performance computing configurations

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary package
  • A dynamic and collaborative research environment
  • The opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and contribute to the advancement of climate science

How to Apply:

Please submit your application, including your resume, cover letter, and responses to the success profile criteria from the Position Description below.
