Key Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will be an integral part of the CAI Data Centre / Building Commissioning team, tasked with the commissioning of essential mechanical systems, overseeing start-up and testing processes, and formulating maintenance strategies. This role involves executing commissioning tests to verify that vendor equipment is installed correctly and operationally ready, facilitating design reviews, and advising on LEED / Green Star qualification submissions.

Specific duties include:

  1. Creating test scripts for mechanical systems and equipment
  2. Actively participating in customer equipment Factory Witness Tests (FWT) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  3. Coordinating and managing vendor relationships
  4. Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with vendor specifications
  5. Providing documentation and testing evidence to confirm proper installation and functionality of equipment
  6. Reviewing design specifications, manufacturer submissions, schematic drawings, and project timelines
  7. Ensuring quality assurance and quality control during mechanical installation and startup
  8. Delegating commissioning tasks to the mechanical commissioning team
  9. Executing test scripts to validate equipment and system performance against design specifications
  10. Promoting safe work practices within the commissioning team and at customer sites
  11. Engaging with clients to ensure satisfaction and adherence to project timelines
  12. Submitting daily reports on the status of the mechanical commissioning team
  13. Conducting facility inspections, handovers, and punch list evaluations
  14. Possessing a general understanding of LEED / Green Star requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
  2. A minimum of 2 years in commissioning and qualification within a regulated environment, or in facility engineering/management
  3. Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    1. Data center construction and commissioning
    2. Mission-critical construction and commissioning
    3. Building commissioning
    4. Startup and troubleshooting of mechanical systems
    5. HVAC systems
    6. Fluid and hydraulic systems
    7. Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB)
    8. Factory Witness Testing
    9. Mechanical commissioning methodologies
    10. Equipment and facility handover processes
  4. Experience in Data Centre operations is a plus, but not mandatory
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  6. Proficiency in MS Project
  7. Willingness to travel internationally as needed, subject to travel restrictions
