About This Role

This is a challenging opportunity to work as a Senior Dam Engineer. As part of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and sustainability of tailings and slimes dams throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop guidelines for the industry on tailings and slimes dams, aligned with industry standards like ANCOLD.
  • Assist with audits and inspections at remote mine sites in Victoria, which may require extensive travel.
  • Review work plans and variations for slimes / tailings dams, requiring knowledge of the ANCOLD TSF guidelines (2019) and qualitative risk assessment processes.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, demonstrating technical assertiveness and professionalism.
  • Identify high-risk tailings dams and oversee rigorous review by third-party specialists.
  • Develop recovery strategies for catastrophic failure events.
Requirements
  • A professional engineering degree and experience in dam design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Eligibility for membership with a body like Engineers Australia.
  • A strong understanding of risk assessment and management.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to plan and manage multiple technical requests with competing deadlines.
  • A valid Victorian Driver's Licence and ability to travel within Victoria.
