About City Patrol Officer Role

Your Opportunity: Enhance Safety and Accessibility in Cairns.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM – 5:00 PM (one shift per week finishing at 3:00 PM) – No weekends or public holidays.

We are seeking a Temporary City Patrol Officer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has excellent customer service skills, and is confident in enforcing local regulations.

  • Conduct regular city patrols on foot (up to 20km per shift) in all weather conditions.
  • Enforce parking and road regulations under the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 and Road Regulations 2009 – QLD Road Rules.
  • Issue infringements and confidently explain offences to drivers when required.
  • Provide high-level customer service and handle face-to-face disputes professionally and diplomatically.
  • Prepare reports and communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for reporting and documentation. Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
About You
  • A high level of physical fitness – ability to walk long distances in varying weather conditions.
  • A strong knowledge of road rules and local regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in issuing infringements and enforcing regulations.
  • A current C Class Driver's Licence.
  • Familiarity with Cairns and its tourist attractions.
  • A strong commitment to safety in all aspects of the role.
