Preventive Health Specialist

The Department of Health is responsible for the overall management of the public health system in Queensland. This role is part of the Queensland Public Health and Scientific Services Division, which brings together medical specialties, scientific testing, key system support functions and surveillance, prevention and control of communicable diseases and public health risks in Queensland.


Job Description:

This position involves collaborating with national partners, government departments, public health units, and community organisations to build preventive health capacity and enhance the delivery of immunisation policies and interventions.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, manage and assess health promotion policies, programs and initiatives that support immunisation efforts;
  2. Provide expert advice to both internal and external stakeholders, while leading policy reforms, fostering innovation, and promoting quality and service improvements;
  3. Establish and maintain strong working relationships across Queensland's public health system, with a focus on fostering a positive team culture and shared responsibility for achieving results.

Requirements:
  • Proven expertise in health promotion and policy development;
  • Strong ability to consult and provide expert advice to stakeholders;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
