Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Utilities Engineer 1 to join our team at the New York State Department of Civil Service. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment providing heat, hot water, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical distribution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, test, and calibrate mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Make recommendations on major overhauls and replacement of equipment
  • Identify, recommend, and develop energy conservation projects
  • Supervise subordinate staff in the operation and maintenance of heating facilities and mechanical equipment
  • Supervise contractors in emergency or project situations
  • Assume responsibility for operations of the overall physical plant
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a strong background in facilities operations, mechanical systems, and energy management. You should have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, and have strong communication and leadership skills. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred, but not required.
