Key Role in In-House Legal Team

Council is seeking a talented Graduate Lawyer to join its Legal Team.

As a key member of the team, you will gain hands-on experience in providing legal services across all Council departments.

  • Providing legal advice and services across areas of law, including property, commercial, planning, environment, and civil matters.
  • Assisting the legal team in managing litigation across courts and tribunals.
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating Council's legal systems.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders, external legal providers, and consultants.
  • Conducting research, preparing case notes, and drafting advice, briefs, and documents.
  • Ensuring compliance with processes, procedures, and relevant legislation.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and a current NSW Practising Certificate.
  • An understanding of customer service, EEO, WHS, and ethical practice principles.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with people at all levels.
  • Integrity and professionalism.
