Seeking a New Career Path?

Are you a resilient, mature, and empathetic individual eager to showcase your capabilities? As part of Ventia's ongoing partnership with the Department of Justice, we present an excellent opportunity to register for our upcoming Custody Officer Assessment Centers, where you will engage in a fitness evaluation and interview on the same day.

Our forthcoming sessions will be available on select Saturdays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport and supervise detainees during critical operations.
  • Participate in court activities, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
  • Manage conflicts and communicate with empathy, positively influencing the lives of detainees.
  • Maintain a professional, fair, and open-minded demeanor towards detainees.
  • Ensure safety and security for detainees, staff, and the public.
  • Conduct walking and mobile patrols of designated areas.
  • Supervise detainees, escort them to appointments or court appearances, and maintain accurate documentation.

What to Anticipate at Our Assessment Sessions:

  • A presentation on the vital role of a Custody Officer within the CS&CS contract.
  • A fitness evaluation, which includes:
    • Beep test (minimum standard: 4.1)
    • Illinois Agility Test
    • Dead ball lift over the shoulder
  • Incident reporting.
  • A formal interview.

Requirements:

  • Availability for full-time training for 6 weeks.
  • Commitment to a minimum of 12 months to achieve qualifications.
  • Australian/NZ Citizen or permanent resident.
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical examination, including a drug and alcohol test.
