Senior Associate Job Opportunity

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our national General Insurance practice, working with a highly regarded team, based in Melbourne.

About The Role And Team

Our national General Insurance practice has approximately 200 team members and advises on and manages litigated claims for a number of major insurers, reinsurers and corporates, and on behalf of significant clients in a wide variety of industries.

Job Description:

The Senior Associate will be responsible for defending claims against professionals including those in the construction industry, financial services and legal sector as well as defending claims in the health and medical sector (medical malpractice).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client interaction and strategy; working with a team of lawyers; reviewing documents and preparing evidence; drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties; conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements; preparing briefs for counsel; drafting Court documents and attendance at Court; drafting client advices; and drafting letters of instruction to experts.
Requirements:
  • At least five years' PQE experience in general insurance law;
  • Experience in professional indemnity matters;
  • Proficient in drafting coverage advices;
  • Experience in the day-to-day management of files and in running matters through court proceedings;
  • A team player, with a 'can do' attitude, and a strong interest in defendant insurance law;
  • Excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills with a keen attention to detail;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • The ability to organise and prioritise effectively.
