Senior Policy Advisor: Energy, Environment and Resources

About the Role:

This is a challenging role that requires a strong understanding of policy development, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.

  • Lead and manage a small team to deliver timely, accurate, accessible, and fit-for-purpose advice on energy, environment, climate change, and natural resources issues for senior management and government.
  • Research economic and/or public policy issues that have commercial, legal, and financial implications.
  • Manage projects to inform policy development.
  • Collaborate within and outside the team on economic, financial, and/or public policy projects.
  • Manage and influence internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
  • Provide mentoring and development support for team members.

About You:

  • A strong understanding of the role and influence of State government in policy making.
  • Influence - extensive experience in building relationships, shaping stakeholders' views, and supporting informed decision-making on complex issues.
  • Conceptual and problem-solving skills - capacity to solve complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Experience using economic frameworks and tools for policy advice would be advantageous.
  • Communication - excellent communication skills including conveying complex issues persuasively to senior executives in plain language.
  • Leadership and management - experience leading and developing others to pursue common goals.
