Insurance Underwriter

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced underwriter to join our team in Sydney, Australia. As the successful candidate, you will report directly to the Head of Casualty and be responsible for managing existing binders while driving new business development.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite single-risk opportunities, including new business, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Take ownership of various binders, managing day-to-day referrals and overseeing the renewal process.
  • Operate within delegated underwriting authority and escalate referrals with clear recommendations when required.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Lloyd's of London model, including internal systems, premium booking, and credit control processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Underwriting Support, Delegated Authority, and other operational departments.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant underwriting files and documentation.
  • Proactively manage upcoming risks and renewal timelines in coordination with brokers.
  • Monitor underwriting workloads and ensure timely completion of risk records in line with underwriting guidelines.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to support business growth.
