Casualty Underwriter – New Business Focus

Location - Sydney

Are you a dynamic and driven insurance professional with a passion for building relationships and driving growth? We are seeking a Casualty Underwriter to join our team, with a strong emphasis on broker engagement and new business development.

About the Role:

Reporting to the National Casualty Manager, you will play a pivotal role in underwriting new liability risks, analysing submissions, and delivering tailored solutions for our broker partners. Beyond technical underwriting, this role is about building lasting broker relationships and actively contributing to our growth targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive new business opportunities through marketing visits, presentations, and industry networking
• Engage proactively with brokers to understand client needs and deliver competitive solutions.
• Assess and underwrite new General Liability submissions in line with company guidelines.
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and premiums while ensuring compliance with underwriting standards.
• Provide a high standard of service to internal and external stakeholders.

About You:

• Proven experience in liability underwriting, preferably within an agency environment.
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills with a focus on broker engagement.
• Commercially minded with a track record in new business development.
• Analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail and decision-making ability.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and underwriting practices.
