Position Overview

In the role of Crisis Support Worker, you will provide comprehensive support to clients engaged in our Domestic & Family Violence Crisis Accommodation program. Your responsibilities will encompass delivering holistic assistance to women and children throughout their journey, from initial intake to successful exit. A crucial aspect of this position is to ensure high-quality case management, guidance, referrals, and advocacy while utilizing Specialist Homelessness databases.

This role emphasizes aiding clients who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of it, helping them secure safe, affordable, and stable housing. You will also work with individuals facing complex challenges to enhance their skills for maintaining current and future tenancies, ultimately improving their quality of life. Your efforts will focus on helping clients navigate and overcome the obstacles contributing to their housing instability.

Flexibility in your schedule is essential, as you will be required to work on a rotating roster and may need to fill in for shifts as necessary.

This is a fixed-term part-time position with a commitment of 30.4 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or a related discipline
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and guidelines governing specialist homelessness services
  • Prior experience as a Support Worker or in a similar role within the homelessness support sector
  • Ability to advocate effectively for clients while maintaining confidentiality
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Positive contribution to a team-oriented environment
  • Friendly demeanor and eagerness to learn
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Respectful attitude towards all individuals, regardless of their circumstances
  • Understanding of risk management principles, including current workplace health and safety regulations
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements
  • Possession of a current Blue Card
  • Commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society and adherence to its policies and procedures
