Assessment and Treatment of Complex Issues
This role offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team providing front-line assessment and brief treatment to young people in need of support. The team is comprised of experienced clinicians led by consultant psychiatrists, working together to provide comprehensive care.
The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients. This includes working with families to address complex issues such as school refusal, parent/child relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, self-harm, suicidal thinking, eating disorders, and psychosis.
About the Role
This position is part of the Intake, Assessment, Consultation and Brief Treatment (iACT) Team within the Early in Life Mental Health Service. The iACT Team provides a centralised, community-based entry point into the broader service for all intake, assessment and community consultation. Young people are assessed and some brief therapy options provided within a limit of number of sessions.
The role involves:
- Internal iACT processes into ELMHS and navigation of ongoing psychiatric support in the community.
- Performing comprehensive community psychiatric assessment, formulation and treatment planning for those aged 0-17.
- Strong partnerships with all ELMHS teams, and all teams within the Mental Health Program including CATT/ECATT teams, Stepping Stones, Oasis etc
- Partnerships with external professionals including paediatricians, private practitioners, Headspace, schools, and Peninsula Health
- Participating in the patient flow within iACT and ensuring the prioritisation and allocations of a large number of referrals received by our service.
