Role Overview

We are seeking a finance professional to join our team and undertake finance business partnering roles. This role will involve delivering and driving financial outcomes across Defence.

The selected individual will be part of the Finance Performance and Management Division, which provides financial advice and support across all of Defence's groups and services.

  • Supporting defence groups and services in managing their budgets effectively
  • Building and sustaining relationships with stakeholders and engaging with them on budget matters, funding, financial policies, and commitments
  • Analysing and interpreting financial data and facilitating group and service input into the internal and external budget cycle
  • Providing input into departmental and ministerial briefings, submissions, and questions on notice
  • Supporting defence groups and services in meeting their statutory reporting obligations for the annual report, budget papers, and other financial disclosures
  • Leading a high-performing team through clear and consistent communication, strong performance and behavioural standards, delegation of responsibility while guiding and developing people

About Our Team

The Finance Performance and Management Division delivers financial advice and performance reporting to Defence groups and services, ministers, and other government departments, across all Defence programs and activities including workforce, capital, sustainment, and operating expenses.

This division consists of over 400 staff working in seven branches, each managing significant resources, with embedded finance staff across the country working closely with business areas. Primarily, the division is responsible for delivering financial management information and advice to ensure Defence leaders can make well-informed decisions.
