About the Role

We seek a highly motivated and talented PhD student to join our team. As a PhD student in this role, you will have the chance to delve into a project focused on uncovering the elusive physics of strongly interacting polaritons far from equilibrium.

About the Project

The objective of this project is to bring the vision of room-temperature superfluid light closer to reality through our research. This could position Australia as a global leader in the commercialisation of next-generation photonic technologies.

Key Research Themes:
  • Determining the polariton-polariton interaction strength
  • MAPPING THE NON-EQUILIBRIUM PHASE DIAGRAM UNDER STRONG LIGHT-MATTER COUPLING
  • Investigating polariton-polarons and emergent quasiparticles in imbalanced regimes
Requirements and Qualifications

We are looking for a driven and capable student with a strong background in theoretical physics, particularly in ultracold quantum gases or condensed matter theory. Proven analytical, computational, and modelling skills are essential. Experience with numerical simulations of quantum or many-body systems is highly desirable. A deep curiosity about the fundamental nature of light and matter is also required.

Qualifications and Background

A Honours and Master degree in quantum physics, theoretical physics, and condensed matter physics are required for this role.
