Role Overview:

The Elective Surgery Access Nurse plays a critical role in enhancing health outcomes through the provision of safe, quality nursing care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supports specialty units and coordinates patient elective surgery & endoscopy care pathways.
  • Ensures patients arrive on the day of their procedure with all relevant documentation completed and a plan of care in place.
  • Collaborates with specialty units and liaison with Perioperative Units to manage elective surgery & endoscopy waiting lists.
Required Skills:
  • High level of knowledge and skills combined with significant experience in acute surgical nursing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pre-admission, admission, discharge, and waiting list management principles.
  • Advanced communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, patients, and families.
