About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Human Resources to join our team at Shangri-La Cairns. As a key member of our hotel's leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that drive business results and support the growth and development of our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Talent Acquisition and Onboarding: Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent, and ensure a smooth onboarding process for new employees.
  • Learning and Development: Design and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our employees, and support their career development and growth.
  • Employee Relations: Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, and provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters.
  • Payroll: Ensure accurate and timely payment of employee salaries and benefits, and manage payroll-related administrative tasks.
  • Colleague Engagement: Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention, and promote a culture of open communication and collaboration.
  • Industrial Relations: Manage industrial relations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Develop and implement competitive compensation and benefits packages to attract and retain top talent.
  • Performance Management: Develop and implement performance management systems to support employee growth and development, and ensure accountability and fairness in the workplace.
  • Corporate Office Reporting: Provide regular reports to the corporate office on HR-related matters, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Workers Compensation: Manage workers compensation claims and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of employee and industrial relations.
  • Previous experience in a senior human resources management role, with international chain hotel experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and related software applications.
  • Ability to manage the Company's internal HRIS systems / Learning Management System (LMS) and online database.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior managers to ensure sustained compliance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
