Project Engineer for Rail Signalling Improvements

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled professional to support the delivery of minor rail signalling improvement projects.

  • Provide on-site engineering support for signalling infrastructure upgrades and renewals within a heavy haul rail network.
  • Coordinate with contractors, OEMs, and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Conduct on-site inspections, quality checks, and verification activities throughout construction.
  • Prepare and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), inspection reports, and quality documentation.
  • Interpret and validate signalling designs for constructability and technical compliance.
  • Support the Signals Project Manager in planning, execution, and project close-out activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years' experience in rail signalling project delivery, preferably within heavy haul or freight rail environments.
  • Strong site-based experience with installation, testing, and commissioning of rail signalling systems.
  • Proven ability to review technical documentation, prepare ITPs, and manage quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with Australian rail signalling standards.
