We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Assistant to join our team.

- Facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders, address concerns proactively and foster collaboration.
- Manage purchasing, payments and invoice processing; undertake additional duties within classification level as required.
- Prioritise and coordinate health and safety activities, including safety drills and risk management in daily operations.
- Plan and lead coastal fieldwork, organise logistics, maintain field equipment and ensure safety and ethics compliance.
- Assist with data collection and analysis, process biological data and coordinate accurate reporting and documentation of research outputs.
We require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (marine biology) and demonstrated experience in a related role.
">Key responsibilities include:
">- Conducting marine fieldwork, including animal tracking and general fish ecology-related research.
- Demonstrated technical experience in marine biodiversity assessment and implementation of scientific monitoring programs.
- Experience contributing to managing large datasets and comfortable using MS Office suite.
- Experienced snorkeler and boat operator with trailering experience.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to work in large teams.
- Scientific diving qualification (AS2815.6 - Restricted Occupational Scuba Diving).
- Experience with data collection, QAQC procedures and data analysis.
- Experience with 'R' programming language.
- Fish dissection experience, including otolith analysis.
- Analysis of video data from marine systems (e.g. BRUVs, DOVs).
Preferred qualifications include:
">- Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience working with research students.
- Knowledge of relevant software packages (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
