Family Support and Advocacy Worker

Join us in a vital role supporting the wellbeing of Aboriginal young people and their families. The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency is committed to advocating for the Aboriginal Community, providing essential services and support.
This Specialist Family Practitioner position involves working closely with parents/carers, family units, and other services involved, respecting unique kinship structures and understanding that every family looks different.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing individualised outreach support to families in their homes, in the community, and over the phone
- Offering group diversion and culture-based activities, education workshops, and family centred support to address presenting challenges prior to escalation
- Working closely with the parent/carer, family unit, and other services and supports involved
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Diploma or Degree qualification in Community Services/Social Work/Psychology
- 3-5 years case management experience in the child welfare field
- An appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and a commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities
