Strategic Governance Opportunity

Churches of Christ in Queensland is seeking a dedicated and strategically minded individual to join its Board as a Director - People & Culture.

  • This governance role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the leadership and mission of a respected Christian organisation committed to community service and spiritual care.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Effective governance of Churches of Christ in Queensland;
  • Involvement in formulating strategic directions and the approval of strategic plans;
  • Recruitment and managing performance of the CEO;
  • Reviewing, approving and monitoring the business plan and annual budget;
  • Contributing to the development of Board and organisational policies;
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement and networking on behalf of Churches of Christ in QLD;
  • Identifying skills required by the Board and potential candidates for Board positions.
Requirements:
  • The role requires attending approximately 11 Board meetings, and other special meetings as may be called, and serving on at least one Board committee per year
  • All Directors are required to do the associated preparation ahead of Board and Committee meetings including reading papers to allow informed and active contribution at meetings
  • All Directors are expected to participate in relevant learning and development
  • Some travel is anticipated.
  • The role may require attendance in monthly conference calls for management, financial reporting and general compliance issues.
  • There will be 2 residentials [1-2-nights, 2 days] Board site visits & strategy meetings annually.
