Medical Oncology Department Role at Royal North Shore Hospital

This is an opportunity to work with a highly skilled team in the Medical Oncology Department at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gynaecological and Gastrointestinal cancers outpatient clinics
  • Inpatient management of Gastrointestinal patients
  • Attending MDT meetings for Gastrointestinal and Gynaecological Cancer
  • Supervising advanced trainees, PhD, and medical students
  • Leading clinical trials in Gynaecological and early-phase research
  • Translational research in Gastrointestinal and Gynaecological cancers at the Bill Walsh Translational Research Laboratory, Kolling Institute
  • Representing NSLHD in cooperative craft group associations, including ANZ Gynaecological Oncology Group
  • Managing Gynaecological and Gastrointestinal inpatients

Clinical Management:

  • Management of patients admitted under the medical oncology service in Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH)
  • Liaising with relevant clinical nurse specialists, facilitating rapid triage of new patients and on-call duties for medical oncology

Teaching and Research:

  • Providing clinical consultation services within NSLHD
  • Contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals
  • Research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District

Selection Criteria:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Medical Onclogy or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia
  • Demonstrated senior clinical experience in holistic, comprehensive inpatient care of oncology patients
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching of medical students and junior medical officers
  • Demonstrated experience with outpatient oncology care and clinical trials management

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical oncology and excellent communication skills. They must be able to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
