Job Summary:

This role is a pivotal position in our organization, focusing on media and communications management. As the Media & Communications Manager, you will be responsible for crafting compelling narratives, managing media relationships with professionalism, and driving the story of our organization forward.

  • Work closely with players, coaches, executives, and media outlets to ensure authentic, engaging, and relevant messaging.
  • Lead day-to-day media operations, press events, interview coordination, and media strategy execution.
  • Build strong relationships with media partners to drive meaningful coverage of our people and programs.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to players, coaches, and execs in media engagements, messaging, and media training.
  • Guide and support the media team, including AFLW operations, while managing match-day broadcast and media responsibilities.
  • Partner with internal departments to identify and share great stories, successes, and initiatives with the public.
  • Monitor media coverage, manage sensitive issues with discretion, and report regularly to senior leadership.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in a media or communications role, preferably within elite sport.
  • Deep understanding of AFL media operations and the broader national/local media landscape.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, and a calm, proactive approach to managing live, high-stakes media moments.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Flexibility and resilience to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Passion for sport, people, and storytelling.
