About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Datacenter Engineering Planner to join our team at Microsoft. As a key member of our Global Project Controls team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of our cloud infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning
    • Develop and maintain integrated master schedules for large-scale datacenter construction projects.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, procurement, and construction to ensure project milestones are met and deliverables are completed on time.
    • Monitor project risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential issues.
    • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and ensure project outcomes meet their expectations.
  • General Contractor (GC) Procurement & Construction Schedule Baseline Management
    • Facilitate and support the development of detailed project schedules with the GC and subcontractor vendors.
    • Work with the Regional Planning Lead to ensure the GC baseline schedule meets the required standards and specifications.
    • Complete the GC baseline evaluation process and provide recommendations.
  • Schedule Analysis and Reporting
    • Participate in weekly schedule reviews with the GC schedule teams to analyze and validate progress.
    • Proactively analyze project schedules to identify trends, issues, and mitigations.
    • Communicate schedule time impact assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to recover and/or control impacts.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in construction project management, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
    • 10+ years of experience in planning medium-sized capital projects in data centers, oil and gas, or chemicals.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Excellent understanding of project planning, earned value management, and key commodity tracking.
    • Strong skills in Oracle P6 project planning software.
    • Familiarity with risk schedule analysis.
    • Ability to analyze EPC plans/schedules and provide deep insights into trends, issues, and mitigations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional Skills and Qualifications
    • Strong familiarity with critical path method (CPM) scheduling methodology.
    • Ability to present data from detailed to high-level depending on the audience.
