Job Opportunity: Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Peer

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated individual to work within a positive and enthusiastic service focused on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers accessing mental health services to develop hope, autonomy and purpose.
  • Work closely alongside multidisciplinary teams to support consumers in developing culturally safe services.
  • Draw upon your lived experience of social and emotional wellbeing issues to support others individually and/or in groups.

Requirements:

  • Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Have lived experience of social and emotional wellbeing challenges.
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or be willing to complete the qualification.
  • Have an understanding of person-led social and emotional recovery principles.
  • Be able to develop and maintain effective partnerships with stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a highly motivated and empathetic individual who has lived experience of social and emotional wellbeing challenges. You will need to hold a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or be willing to complete the qualification. You will also need to have an understanding of person-led social and emotional recovery principles and be able to develop and maintain effective partnerships with stakeholders.
