Senior Academic Leader - English

The Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that serves as a model for supporting the well-being and capacity of young people in detention.

This position involves leading a curriculum focus team aligned with school and departmental initiatives, focusing on embedding socially just practices, setting high standards for student and staff performance, actively participating in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development, forming partnerships, and driving quality learning outcomes for all students.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, articulating, and committing to a shared educational vision;
  • Leading the English school department to provide quality learning outcomes;
  • Embedding socially just practices in daily school life;
  • Setting high standards for student and staff performance;
  • Actively participating in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development;
  • Forming partnerships with employees, students, caregivers, key stakeholders, other government agencies, and community groups.

Applicants must hold a relevant teaching qualification. A certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be desirable but not essential.
