Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Avionics to join our Airborne Solutions Engineering team in Cairns. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing aircraft maintenance and modifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to a safe and incident-free work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aircraft Maintenance and Modifications
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on aircraft systems, including avionics and electrical systems
    • Conduct modifications and upgrades to aircraft systems, as directed by senior engineers
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure all maintenance and modifications are performed in accordance with regulatory requirements, including Aircraft Maintenance manuals and CAMO procedures
  • Safety and Quality
    • Contribute to a safe and incident-free work environment by actively participating in safety programs and reporting any safety concerns
    • Ensure all work is performed to the highest quality standards, meeting or exceeding customer expectations
  • Team Collaboration
    • Work collaboratively with other engineers, technicians, and support staff to achieve team goals and objectives

Requirements

  • Essential Criteria
    • Australian Citizen
    • Willingness to relocate to Cairns, if not already a resident
    • Sound communication and troubleshooting skills
    • Proven ability to work in a team environment
    • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
    • Avionics modification experience
    • Flexibility to travel, as required
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering orders for modifications
  • Desirable Criteria
    • Both line maintenance and heavy maintenance experience
    • Cert IV Aeroskills - Mechanical
    • Dash 8 experience
    • Dash 8 Part 66 type rating
    • Confined space training
    • Current first aid certificate
    • Forklift license
